Raphael: Sublime Poetry at The Met

The Metropolitan Museum of Art presents Raphael: Sublime Poetry, the first comprehensive exhibition dedicated to Raphael ever organized in the United States. The exhibition explores the artistic legacy of the renowned Italian Renaissance master through more than 170 works, including paintings, drawings, and tapestries gathered from important collections in Europe and the United States.

The exhibition follows Raphael’s extraordinary artistic journey from Urbino and Florence to the papal court in Rome, highlighting the creativity, poetic sensibility, and intellectual depth that made him one of the most influential artists in Western art history.

Special attention is given to Raphael’s portrayal of women, his depictions of the Madonna and Child, and recent scientific discoveries related to his work revealed through modern technology.

Raphael: Sublime Poetry is currently on view through June 28 at The Met Fifth Avenue, Gallery 899.
